Recent Management:  The first tract purchased for this WPA was in 1964.  The property has some management challenges.  The wetland stays just wet enough to support a very dense stand of bulrush.  The photo below shows the small amount of open water available for migratory waterfowl.  The property is also located with half in York county and the other half in Fillmore.  Numerous modifications in the hydrology has also occurred, including pits and drainage ditches.

In 2002, conditions were dry enough to burn off the upland and a large portion of the wetland.  A large portion of it was disked in the late summer.  No well exists on the property.  However, some pumping was done in the fall of 2002 through an arrangement with the neighboring landowner.

Grazing is being done on portions of the wetland each year to reduce the amount of tall emergent vegetation.  It has resulted in an increase of plant diversity and waterfowl food.  Permanent barbwire fence is being installed along the perimeter to improve our ability to graze the entire WPA.
