Endangered, Threatened and Rare Species
There are many species in the watershed that are rare; a few of these are only found here and so are also globally rare. Rare species in the watershed may be common in other places but at the edge of their range here, or it may be that they are rare and declining here (and elsewhere). Various designations help us understand whether a species is endangered or threatened at the federal or state level. Some species are already extinct, and many more that were here historically have been extirpated. To learn more, read the attached documents.
