Educational Centers

Education is an important tool that the refuge uses to help accomplish its purpose of protecting native species in the watershed. The refuge operates visitor centers (described under Come Visit) to educate visitors about the plants, wildlife and habitats of the watershed, the value of natural diversity, the variety of healthy habitats necessary to support all the different species at all their life stages, the threats to diversity, and stewardship. Interpreters work with teachers and classrooms to enrich their visits and their at-home curricula. If you are a teacher that would like more information about visits or teacher workshops, contact laurel_carpenter@fws.gov.
