What is a Comprehensive Conservation Plan (CCP)?

The National Wildlife Refuge System Improvement Act of 1997 requires the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to write comprehensive conservation plans (CCP) for all of the refuges in the System by 2012. CCP's establish management goals and objectives for all refuge programs over the next 15 years. The planning project provides a unique opportunity for the Service to involve individuals and local communities in the long-term management of the refuge.
