Narrative description of CWWH

Tidal Waterfowl and Wading Bird  Habitats.  Data for waterfowl and wading birds in Coastal Wildlife Concentration Areas (CWCAs) were evaluated to determine rating as follows:

Coastal Marine Geologic Environments: ranked high if located within a moderate or high value CWCA.  Otherwise, ranked moderate.  Habitats include seaweed communities and reefs.

 National Wetland Inventory: ranked high if located within a moderate or high value CWCA.  Otherwise, ranked moderate.  Habitat types include aquatic beds, emergent wetlands, reefs, and mudflats.

 Eelgrass: ranked high if located within a moderate or high value CWCA.  Otherwise, ranked moderate.  Habitats include all eelgrass polygons with > 10% eelgrass cover. 

Eider habitat: the area between the upland boundary and the 30’ depth contour of any seabird nesting island that has at least 25 nesting pairs of eiders is ranked as high value habitat. 

Rookery islands: islands are ranked as high if a wading bird rookery was documented in 1995.
