Sea Lamprey ManagementThe Connecticut River hosts one of the largest populations of sea lamprey on the east coast. Lamprey are native to the Connecticut River and are viewed as a healthy and welcome member of the ecosystem. These primitive creatures are much maligned outside of their historic habitat where they have upset the balance of the food chain in places like the Great Lakes or Lake Champlain.
