Migration Day Event
May 8, 2010 (Saturday)

The second Saturday in May is International Migratory Bird Day. Bird counts and other bird-oriented activities are typically held in many places in the United States and other countries. In honor of, and to emphasize, migration, this event will link Quivira National Wildlife Refuge and Cheyenne Bottoms Wildlife Area together by both theme and by road. Visit Quivira, then travel via the Wetlands and Wildlife Scenic Byway to Cheyenne Bottoms. This is your chance to observe many species of birds and to get a sense of what it is like for the birds to travel from point to point. Refreshments will be provided along the way!

For more information, call the Refuge at 620-486-2393.

Kid's Fishing Day
Saturday, June 5, 2010

Join us for our annual Kid's Fishing Day. We will gather together at 8:30 a.m. for registration. Each child will have the opportunity to learn knot tying, casting, rules and regulations and fish identification at the Clinic. At 10:00 a.m. we will move the activities to the Kids Fishing Pond. Get in on the drawings for door prizes and then join us for a great lunch! Preregistration is not required but greatly appreciated to help us anticipate how many kids, moms, dads, grandparents, aunts, or uncles will join us for lunch (so that no one will go hungry!).
