Press Release
Seeking Public Comment at Bill Williams River National Wildlife Refuge
Public comment period open until August 10, 2023

We at the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service invite public review and comment on nine Compatibility Determinations (CDs) for the Bill Williams River National Wildlife Refuge in Parker, Arizona. CDs include the proposed uses: wildlife observation and photography, fishing, boating, research, environmental education and interpretation, picnicking, bicycling, and rights-of-way (2).

A compatibility determination describes the circumstances under which a refuge use or activity would be allowed. When a compatibility determination is accepted, it means a proposed or existing wildlife-dependent recreational use has been found appropriate for the site and is consistent with the missions of the refuge, the National Wildlife Refuge System, and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

CDs are available for public review and comment from July 10 to August 10, 2023 here and at the refuge visitor center. Please submit any comments via email to R2_plancomments@FWS.gov. For questions about the Refuge, please contact the Refuge Headquarters at (928) 667-4144 or visit the website.
