SUBJECT: Department of the Interior Fish and Wildlife Policy: State-Federal Relationships

A. POLICY: The Department of the Interior has developed a Fish and Wildlife Policy which addresses State-Federal relationships. The policy is appended.

B. SCOPE: Servicewide.

C. PURPOSE: The purpose of the policy is to clarify State and Federal responsibilities, enhance cooperative relationships, and identify areas for potential cooperative agreements respecting fish and wildlife management.

D. INCORPORATION: This issuance incorporates the Department of the Interior Fish and Wildlife Policy: State-Federal Relationships into the National Policy Issuance System. The policy was published in the Federal Register on March 18, 1983 (48FR11642-45), corrected on April 1, 1983 (48FR13986), and codified in the Code of Federal Regulations at 43 CFR Part 24. It was signed by the Acting Assistant Secretary for Fish and Wildlife and Parks on March 11, 1983.
