Early each morning, Federal, State, and local firefighters gather to hear updates on the fire and to receive directions for the day's work. Currently, the NC Incident Command Team is focusing on containment of the 32,556 acre fire and pumping water onto the area to drown groundfire. The fire is being managed jointly by the NC Forest Service and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
