Creation of the Refuge's Native Butterfly Garden
Pelican Island National Wildlife Refuge
April/May, 2005

Students from Pelican Island Elementary earned their Junior Refuge Manager Badge after spending a day helping the Refuge stake down weed tarps, plant native butterfly plants, mulch and water. The creation of the native butterfly garden is a Nature of Learning Project made possible by a grant provided by the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation.
