U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Internship Opportunity
Pee Dee National Wildlife Refuge in Wadesboro, NC is seeking a volunteer intern for the spring/summer season. This position is open to all candidates with fish and wildlife-related coursework or work experience. Students who have completed at least 2 years of wildlife-related coursework are preferred, but this is not required.
The work period will be approximately 12 weeks. Starting and ending dates are flexible, but generally run from mid-May to mid-August. This is not a paid position, but it does provide a $75.00/week food stipend and free housing in our intern trailer. A washing machine and clothesline are also available.
Job assignments will include nest box checks, nest box maintenance, assistance with duck banding, trail maintenance, administrative assistance, general maintenance, supervising a high school work crew, and a variety of other refuge operations.
