Ecosystem Planning

An ecosystem is a geographic area including all living organisms, their physical surroundings, and the natural cycles that sustain them. All of these elements are interconnected. Managing any one resource affects the others in that ecosystem.

This program seeks to promote maintenance and restoration of native biodiversity and ecosystem processes, plus long-term natural ecosystem dynamics that are necessary for the conservation, adaptation, and evolution of native communities of plants and animals.

These goals will be achieved through acquisition and analysis of data followed by the implementation of findings within established U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service programs such as the Conservation Partnership Program, Recovery, and Realty Division. Interaction with other government agencies, researchers, conservation groups, and private individuals is also very important.
