Interagency Cooperation

Under the Endangered Species Act, the Interagency program is responsible for handling "Interagency Cooperation" (Section 7 ) in order to ensure that all federal agencies comply with regulations for species listed on the Endangered and Threatened Wildlife and Plants List.

Staff reviews all federal projects that might have an impact on listed species and provides consultations to ensure that regulations are met.

Picture of a Solanum Incompletum

This relative of the tomato, Solanum incompletum, was thought to be extinct until rediscovered on U.S. Army land on the Big Island. The Army has put up a small emergency fence to protect them from sheep and goats, while working with the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service to develop plans for habitat management.
