Pacific Region

The Pacific Northwest boasts some of the most scenic and varied terrain in the US . Our wildlife refuges and fish hatcheries exist amid mountainous mixed-conifer forests, salt and freshwater marshes, arid sagebrush-covered plateaus, lush grasslands, meadows and deciduous forests. The Fire Management Program exists to protect and manage these valuable resources which provide habitat for hundreds of plant and animal species.

The Pacific Region includes Washington, Oregon, and Idaho, as well as Hawaii and other Pacific islands. Each year, our region responds to an average of 48 wildfires on service lands, and manages an average of 109 fuel reduction treatments. During the fire season, we work alongside local, state and federal agencies to control and suppress fires that threaten lives, property and valuable natural resources throughout the Northwest. Through the year, we work hard to manage fire safely on our federal lands in an effort to create a vibrant ecosystem.
