Comprehensive Conservation Plan

April 2011

The CCP has been completed and published for the Protection Island and San Juan Islands NWRs. The CCP can be accessed online (here) or at certain libraries listed in the Planning Update 4 for you can call the Refuge Complex office to request a CD-ROM.

Refuge Planning Milestones

August 2010 - The Protection Island and San Juan Islands National Wildlife Refuges have developed a Draft Comprehensive Conservation Plan, Wilderness Stewardship Plan, and Environmental Assessment (CCP/WSP/EA). A summary of the Draft CCP/WSP/EA is available in Planning Update 3.

August 2008 - A detailed public scoping report is posted below, as is Planning Update 2. A summary of public comments is provided in the Update, and two public open house meetings were announced for September 23 and 24, 2008.

September 2007 - The Washington Maritime National Wildlife Complex announces the beginning of a planning process to develop a Comprehensive Conservation Plan for the Protection Island and San Juan Islands National Wildlife Refuges (refuges) (see Planning Update 1). Public comments are requested to identify management issues for the refuges.
