February 2010: Planning Update 2 summarized the results of our initial public scoping efforts.

October 2009:A multi-year planning process has begun to develop a Comprehensive Conservation Plan (CCP) and Environmental Assessment (EA) for Keālia Pond and Kakahai'a National Wildlife Refuges (NWR). Through this webpage and local media outlets we will announce public involvement opportunities and provide access to planning documents throughout the planning process. Planning Update 1 announced Public Open House Meetings on November 4, 2009, in Kaunakakai, HI, and November 5, 2009, in Kihei, HI. It also provides an overview of the refuges, and includes a list of potential refuge management issues we may consider during the CCP planning process.
