Dworshak National Fish Hatchery will partner with Nez Perce Tribal Fisheries to hold the 23nd annual Kid’s Fishing Day. The event will be on Saturday, May 18 from 8:00 am-1:00 pm, at Tunnel Pond near Orofino. All fishing gear and bait is provided and there will be ice to chill your catch. As in years past, parking at Tunnel Pond is limited so there will be a shuttle from the parking lot below Orofino High School, Riverside Ave, to the pond.

This year our event is open kids 14 and under and we have increased the catch limit to 3 fish per child. In past years we restricted the age to 12 years and under. “Kid’s Fishing Day is a great opportunity for families to get outside and enjoy a day of fishing and fun in a beautiful, local setting,” says Angela Feldmann, Information and Education Specialist at Dworshak National Fish Hatchery.

In addition to fishing, IDFG will have their “Take Me Fishing” trailer at the event, Bobber, the water safety dog will make an appearance, and there will be food, crafts, and educational displays. We will even offer fish cleaning and cooking lessons for those who may not know what to do with their fish once they are caught. “This truly will be an enjoyable event for the entire family.”
