The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service will temporarily close the public access road to the White Bluffs Boat Launch on the Hanford Reach National Monument for re-paving. The road will be closed from April 30 through about June 15, 2012. The temporary road closure will begin at the four-way intersection approximately 2-miles east of the boat launch. Construction crews will place closure barricades at the intersection. The road accessing the Monument from State Route 24 will remain open, so visitors can continue to access the White Bluffs Overlook and Wahluke Ponds.

This project will include removal of the existing degraded hard surface, reconstruction of the road bed and installation of a new asphalt surface on the entire length of the road. There will be construction truck traffic present during this period, so drivers will need to be alert. The road will reopen when construction is completed, which could be prior to the June 15 deadline.
