Special Purpose Game Bird Permits

(50 CFR 21.27)       Please Note that you must read these regulations prior to signing your application.
Special purpose game bird permits are issued to individuals interested in possessing captive-bred game birds other than waterfowl, and to buy, sell, trade, and donate such birds to other individuals holding a game bird permit. Unlike waterfowl regulations (where permits are not required to possess ducks, geese, or swans), this permit is required before a game bird can
be acquired. This permit authorizes the possession of migratory pigeons (most commonly held under this permit is the band-tailed pigeon), doves (most common is the mourning dove), sandhill cranes, coots, and gallinules. To qualify for this permit, the applicant must show adequate caging facilities by submitting drawings and photographs.
