Diversity Employment Specialist - Serving Region 8
Bill Johnson is the Diversity Employment Specialist for the Division of Diversity and Civil Rights (DCR), Region 8. He is responsible for a wide range of recruitment duties and provides advisory services as well as serving as a technical expert in identifying sources of job applicants and candidates. Bill has extensive experience in recruiting a diverse workforce while serving in the U.S. Marine Corps. During his military service, Bill worked in communications, data analysis, staffing, recruiting, hiring, public relations, employee development and served as a Recruiter Instructor for several years. He led and managed the top producing recruiting station in the Marine Corps for two consecutive years.
Prior to his retirement from the Marine Corps in February 2011, Bill spent thirteen years developing targeted recruitment plans to hire diverse highly qualified officers and enlisted personnel. He monitored and analyzed recruitment programs to ensure that goals were met; and established tracking systems and procedures to determine the effectiveness of employment outreach efforts. During his service, Bill received numerous awards and recognition including the Meritorious Service Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, and the Joint Service Achievement Medal.
