Presenter's Biography:
Dr. David revell is a senior associate with Philip Williams and Associates, an environmental hydrology firm that blends geomorphology and engineering. David has been project manager on this California Ocean Protection Council funded project evaluating coastal erosion and flooding hazards for the open coast of California. He is also a co-PI on a 2009 California Sea Grant Award: Beaches as threatened ecosystems: an evaluation of status and trends in the ecology of California's sandy beaches with Dr. Jenifer Dugan, UCSB.
Dr. Revell received an M.S in Marine Resource Management at Oregon State University in 2000 and a PhD in Earth Sciences from University of California, Santa Cruz in 2007. His research and career work has focused on coastal hazards identification, shoreline change, geospatial analysis, and regional sediment management. David has also been involved in ocean water quality monitoring and marine conservation. David has been actively advancing the concept of sandshed management - integrating the physical, ecological, and economic aspects of watersheds and littoral cells to restore beach and coastal environments.
