Temperature Trends & Projections

|
The geography of the Pacific Northwest as well as various climate
cycles, including El Niño-Southern, cause temperature variability
throughout the region. Between 1920 and 2000 the PNW regionally
averaged temperature rose 1.5°F. The most warming occurred in winter
months creating more rain-on-snow events, high winds, and landslides,
although these changes were not uniform throughout the region.
Projections show an increase of 2.0°F by the 2020's, 3.2°F by the
2040's, and 5.3°F by the 2080's with summer temperatures increasing
the most.
