Although the angles of these photos differ, they
all show
the head of Muskingum Island on the Ohio River Islands National Wildlife
Refuge approximately one year apart. When the ORVE team visited the island
in June, 2001, virtually no aquatic vegetation grew along the island’s
head. The team planted "plugs" of Justicia americana, a
native emergent aquatic herb. As the bottom photo shows, the team’s
planting efforts paid off. |
