Adams Cave Gating Project

In the November of 2002, The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service's Partners for Fish and Wildlife program (in Kentucky) protected a biologically significant cave known as Adams Cave. The cave was inventoried prior to gating for fauna, all garbage removed and a specially designed steel exclusion gate erected.   more...


Henslow's Sparrow Roadside 
Transect Surveys

The Henslow's sparrow population has been surveyed annually at Big Oaks NWR since 1995.  Much of the grassland habitat present on the refuge was former pastures and agricultural fields allowed to revert to natural vegetation under the U.S. Army's prior management.   more...
