From Bob Butler...

Greetings all:

We have finalized plans for our upcoming meeting. We will be meeting on Monday, 31 October, at 1:00 PM at the Safari Golf Club. This is the same venue we met at for our meeting in Columbus in November 2003. Our meeting will adjourn at about noon on Tuesday, 1 November. The Columbus Zoo will provide us with box lunches for a modest price, thus keeping our group together for another hour. At 1:00 PM, the Freshwater Mollusk Conservation Society will begin their semi-annual board meeting, which will continue until Wednesday, 2 November, to about noon.

Monday night (Halloween--my apologies to parents out there with children's commitments) will be on our own for dinner. Tuesday night, for those of you staying for the FMCS meeting, we will meet for eats at the Mussel Facility (also a modest price). We met for dinner there in 2003 and it was great--excellent camaraderie while foraging, imbibing, and conversing in a very relaxed atmosphere with fireplace and our little buddy mussels in the other room.

Directions for the hotel (Red Roof Inn on Post Road), Golf Club, and Mussel Facility are below.

The tentative agenda is attached as a Word file. As usual, we fly kinda fast and loose on the agenda. So if there is time, we can discuss other items you may want to bring up.

Thanks for your interest. I hope to see many of you there in two weeks.

DIRECTIONS:

From Post Road (the hotels) go E on Rt. 33 / 161 into scenic Dublin. Go

through the light and over the Scioto River. Once over the river turn L

onto Riverside Drive.

To go to the Golf Course - several miles up you will pass Stratford Rd. on

the R. Pay attention. Coming up on the R is the golf course, and it is on a

bend in the road. Easy to miss. If you get to Glick Road, you missed it.

To go to Mussel Facility - past Stratford turn L at the next light. This is

Glick Rd. Cross back over the river and turn R at the first light, Dublin

Road. 0.9 miles past this intersection, turn R on Harriott Road (no

outlet), proceed down the lane through the gate. Glick and Dublin roads are

serious speed traps, so watch out.
