Design
-
It is better to accomplish a smaller, well designed project
than becoming overwhelmed with a larger project and risking
quality.
-
Consider the wide array of off_site factors when designing
a project, i.e. current and future land uses; transportation
and storm water issues; adjacent site conditions; etc.
-
Be flexible and allow for plan refinement as new ideas and
information becomes available.
-
Look for opportunities to salvage local materials, such
as plants and woody debris, at development sites.
-
Park maintenance staff can offer valuable design input.
-
Look into the availability of plant materials when designing
the project, and seek local plant stock.
-
Realize there are many experts, many ways of doing restoration,
and not everyone will agree.
