Public Meetings

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service will host a series of Public Information Meetings on the proposed Critical Habitat Designation for the Northern Spotted Owl. Dates and locations are listed below. There will also be one Public Hearing, to be held in Portland, Oregon. (See box below.)

Meeting Format : At the  Public Information Meetings , U.S. Fish and Wildlife Ser vice staff will field questions and provide information on a variety of spotted owl critical habitat and conservation issues.  There will also be the opportunity to submit written comments on the critical habitat  proposal, but formal oral testimony will not be taken.  At the Public Hearing , there is not an opportunity for questions and answers, but oral testimony will be taken and recorded by a hearing officer; comments can also be submitted in writing.
