Bureau of Reclamation

Fish and Wildlife Service biologists:

Assist the Bureau of Reclamation (BR) plan and implement water development projects.

Conduct biological studies and assist the BR with the planning, design, implementation, and monitoring of fish and wildlife habitat restoration projects.

Serve as a liason for coordinating the evaluation of project impacts by State and Federal agencies such as the National Marine Fisheries Service and the Oregon and (for Columbia River projects) Washington Departments of Fish and Wildlife.

Provide recommendations to ensure equal consideration for fish and wildlife resources, including measures to avoid, minimize, and compensate for adverse impacts to fish and wildlife caused by development projects, in accordance with the Service's Mitigation Policy (federal Register 46:15; January 23, 1981).
