Fall Morning ToursSeptember 20 & 30, October 7 & 8
Would you like to get more out of your trip to Seney National Wildlife Refuge? Some wildlife can be difficult to see, but trained staff and volunteers know where to look or listen. Join us fall mornings September 20th and 30th and October 7th and 18th at 10:00 am to experience a guided tour of the refuge. The tour will take approximately 2 to 2 1/2 hours. We will be on the lookout for a variety of wildlife while sharing information on the animals we see, the history of the Refuge and current management practices.
Please meet inside the Visitor Center to coordinate vehicles, pick up binoculars, and begin the tour. The Visitor Center reopens at 6:30 p.m. on tour days to accommodate guests. Remember to dress for the weather. Tours will depart rain or shine. Tours only tend to be canceled due to high winds in access of 30 mph.
Hitch a RideSpace in refuge vehicles is available first come first served. Once the refuge vehicles are full radios are handed out to the public and they are welcomed to follow along in their personal vehicles.
Starting the summer of 2013, people wishing to drive their own vehicles who are joining the tour will be required to wash potential seed sources from their vehicles before being allowed to go behind closed gates. You can help speed the process by visiting a car wash before you come to the refuge for the tour. The refuge also has a site where vehicles can be washed down before the tour. Simply ask at the front desk at the Visitor Center for assistance in this matter. This new procedure is meant to help stop the potential spread of invasive species.
