La Crosse District Visitor Center Summer Operating Hours

The Visitor Center located at N5727 County Road Z, Onalaska, Wisconsin will begin summer operating hours on Monday, June 3, 2013. The summer schedule will be as follows:  Open Tuesday through Fridays, 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.  Open Saturdays beginning June 8 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  Closed Sundays, Mondays, and federal holidays This schedule will be in effect through Saturday, August 31, 2013. The refuge is currently seeking volunteers interested in working at the front desk in the Visitor Center. For more information, contact Paula Ogden-Muse at 608-779-2392. Those who need assistance in planning their refuge visit can call the refuge office at 608-779-2399 from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Warranty Work Scheduled for the Facility – Due to a continuing problem with leaks in the geothermal lines located between the Visitor Center and maintenance building, both the supply and return lines supplying the maintenance building will be replaced beginning the last week of May. The project is expected to be completed in about two weeks, conditions permitting. For safety reasons, the trailhead and exterior bathrooms at the Visitor Center may be closed at times during the construction period. The geothermal heating and cooling system in the Visitor Center has been functioning as designed.
