Hawaiian cootKakahai‘a National Wildlife Refuge on the island of Moloka‘i was established in 1976 to permanently protect wetland habitat for endangered waterbirds, primarily Hawaiian stilt and Hawaiian coot, and to provide habitat for wintering migratory wetland birds.
