Nature at Night!12/06/12
Nature @ Night coming soon at Prairie Wetlands Learning Center!
Many things have been written about night. The following quote written decades ago by
artist Vincent Van Gogh reminds us that night is always a unique time in nature,
he wrote, “I often think that the night
is more alive and more richly colored than the day.”
Wetlands Learning Center (PWLC) will again provide free to families and friends
in west central Minnesota the well -received program Nature @ Night. Nature at
Night is for families, and those interested in what happens in nature at
Prairie Wetlands Learning Center after sunset.
The special focus of this year’s program is owls! Come and find out if the
night is more alive, more colored than the day!
bring your family or a friend to Prairie Wetlands Learning Center in Fergus
Falls on Thursday, December 6 from 5:00-7:00 PM to be a part of Nature @ Night.
Join PWLC staff to discover new wonders about owls, these feathered night
creatures, with super hearing and vision. The PWLC
will be open by 5:00 p.m. to give visitors a chance to tour the facility and
visit the Bluestem Bookstore.
Starting at 5:30p.m., you will have the opportunity to
learn new wonders about the owls of our area: the Screech Owl, Barred Owl and
the amazing Great Horned Owl. Presentations are scheduled to start at 5:30p.m. This
will allow visitors time to get home from work and to the PWLC to participate
in this exciting program.
After the brief indoor presentations, we will head out
in the field to explore the prairie at night and search for evidence of
owls! Be sure to bring all of your
winter gear like insulated boots and mittens, winter coat and hat, and snow
pants. All ages are encouraged to attend.
Some visitors may wish to participate in the indoor presentation and
field investigation while others might decide to stay indoors during the
excursion. The choice is yours, but a night hike on the prairie is a truly
special experience! Please join us for Nature @ Night!
