The 1996 National List of Vascular Plant Species That Occur in Wetlands has been
produced through the combined efforts of many people. This revision would not
have been possible without the comments provided by many regional ecologists and
habitat data included in new botanical manuals and floras. The members of the
National and Regional Interagency Review Panels participated in many Review Panel
meetings and spent innumerable hours examining review panel reports and meeting
summaries. Dr. John T. Kartesz graciously provided digital copies of interim and
published versions of A Synonymized Checklist of the Vascular Flora of the United
States, Canada, and Greenland and the state distribution for each accepted taxon.
Former members of the Ecology Section who contributed to the revision include
Becky Brewer, Gwendolyn Sanderlin, and Lee Sawyers. David Lindsey, a previous
Ecology Section member, participated in a number of Regional Panel meetings and
provided invaluable aid in the design of the Ecology Section data bases and in
the production of many interim reports. Andrew Cruz, computer scientist with the
Ecology Section, must be especially recognized for his skill in designing and
transforming the Ecology Section data bases into modern relational tables. The
pleasing and accurate format of the 1996 National List and the Ecology Section
World Wide Web page are reflections of his skill and abilities.
