2011 Career Discovery Internship Program

Francesca Cook

My name is Francesca Lynn Cook, but most people call me Frankie. I grew up in Prospect, Pennsylvania, right down the street from the refuge that I am working at!  I have always loved nature and coming to John Heinz NWR for walks and bike rides each summer. It’s a beautiful place and this internship is only helping me to appreciate it even more.  I major in Special ED and Elementary Education at Neumann University in Aston PA. During my “down time” in the school year, I belong to several clubs at Neumann. I am in a student activities club and I also choreograph hip-hop for the Neumann Dance Team.  When I have nothing to do, I like to go for jogs to clear my head. I was interested in applying for this internship because it seemed like a great opportunity to meet new people and gain a new perspective on the education field. This gives me a chance to explore environmental education as well. Through this experience I hope to gain knowledge and understanding of how amazing and important wildlife is. I want to meet new people and I am always open to learning something new. I will never forget this experience and I am looking forward to the rest of the summer!
