2011 Career Discovery Internship Program

Dominique Talley

My name is Dominique Briel Talley. I am twenty years old and was born in Baltimore, Maryland. Often Baltimore is portrayed as a crime filled city. However, just like any other city, problems exist but they do not sculpt the city. Growing up in Baltimore has opened my eyes to many things, one of which is self awareness. Living in any city you are bound to face situations where you must understand how to be safe. Due to this I feel that I have learned valuable lessons that have helped mold me into the young women that I am today. Currently, I am a junior at the illustrious Spelman College, located in the heart of Atlanta, Georgia. I have a major area of concentration in biology. At Spelman I am on the executive board of the NAACP serving as Chair of Press and Publicity. I enjoy being involved with the community as well as making a difference in as many lives as I possibly can. In my spare time I enjoy outdoor activities. I like doing just about anything that will get me up and out. I was interested in applying for the CDIP internship in effort to seek education in other career opportunities. As a biology major the door remains open for employment opportunities. When I decide to get into the workforce, I hope to find employment that will allow me to love what I do. From this experience in the CDIP internship I hope to gain knowledge about career opportunities working with wildlife. Also, I hope to network and meet as many new people as I possibly can. My future goals are limitless, short term goals are to graduate Spelman College in May 2013 and to continue with my education at the graduate level.
