Environmental Contaminants
PAGE UNDER CONSTRUCTION
The Environmental Contaminants Program assesses the effects of contaminants on fish, wildlife, and other natural resources; responds to oil and chemical spills; coordinates Natural Resource Damage Assessment and Restoration (NRDAR) issues; and manages water quality standards.
Our staff identifies sources of pollution, investigates pollution effects on fish and wildlife and their habitats, develops solutions to contaminant problems to prevent or minimize adverse impacts, and partners with state, federal and other agencies to restore resources and habitats damaged by pollution, ensuring adequate protection for fish and wildlife resources.
Sources of contaminants include industrial discharges, oil and chemical spills, hazardous waste sites, pesticide use, and mining operations.
