Visitor Alert!
Long awaited road improvements are finally underway on the Refuge’s Wilna Tract. Construction has begun and is expected to last until approximately August 15. In the meantime, we hope to maintain daily access to Wilna Pond and the refuge Headquarters. Visitors are asked to be watchful in the presence of heavy equipment and to pay attention to temporary signs. Thanks for you patience while we work to improve visitor access.
Visitor Information
While wildlife and habitat conservation come first on refuges, excellent wildlife observation, photography, fishing, environmental education, interpretation, and hunting opportunities can be enjoyed on several tracts of the refuge.

Wilna House Headquarters - USFWS
The Wilna Tract, located in Richmond County, is open to the public for visitation, seven days a week, sunrise to sunset. Also the location of the refuge headquarters, this site offers accessible fishing, excellent wildlife observation opportunities, and accessible nature trails. Visits to the Hutchinson, Laurel Grove, Port Royal and Tayloe tracts require advanced reservations. To schedule a visit to one of these tracts, please call (804) 333-1470. All other tracts are closed to public visitation except by special permit.
