Kids' Fishing Day  (Download 2008 flyer)

The Seventh Annual Kids' Fishing Day was held Saturday, June 7, 2008, 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.  Please check back in April 2009 to get the details for the June 2009 event.

Girl holding fish at Kid's Fishing DerbyFREE!  Kids ages 5-15 can join refuge staff and partners for a fun-filled day of fishing how-to's and hands-on fishing in the 35 acre Wilna Pond.  Knot tying, fish identification and habitats, safety, laws and ethics, and casting lessons are all covered in the Fishing Clinic before the young anglers are cut loose to try their new skills out in the Wilna Pond.  Fishing fun will be followed by grilled hot dogs and other goodies, complements of Wal-Mart of Tappahannock.  There will be lots of prizes and great goody bags.

Kids must be accompanied by an adult and advanced registration is required (space is limited to only 30 participants).  Registration begins May 5, 2008.  The refuge will supply bait and rods/reels if needed.  Come join the fun!  To register, call 804-333-1470.
