Conservation Easements
Wildlife conservation easements are agreements between landowners and easement holders, such as the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, that permanently protect existing wildlife habitats on a property, with the land remaining under private ownership. Many current uses of the land are typically retained by the landowner, such as farming, hunting, and fishing. The Fish and Wildlife Service accepts donations of easements and also pays market value, depending on the needs of the individual landowner and available funding.
