Fall Boat Tour of Presquile NWR

Search for Bald Eagles, Great Blue Herons, Egrets, and Osprey during this unique opportunity to travel the waters and trails of the James River with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service as your guide. A 28-foot pontoon boat will lead participants alongside historic Shirley Plantation and Presquile NWR. Limit 16 participants. Children under age 10 must bring their own PFDs. Presquile NWR Volunteer Work Day

Help give a little TLC to the Refuge in preparation for the coming season. Some of the tasks will include vegetation trimming, debris removal, dismantling an old farm fence, and refurbishing the Visitor Contact Station. Cookout lunch will be provided. Great Backyard Bird Count (GBBC) at Presquile NWR

Conduct Citizen Science on our local refuge and with the Audubon Society. All sightings will be recorded and posted on the GBBC website as part of a national event. Access to the island is by authorized permit only. Space is very limited, due to boat size. Pre-registration is required.
