Silvio O. Conte National Fish and Wildlife Refuge
Comprehensive Conservation Planning
Latest News in Developing CCP
We are in the process of developing a range of management alternatives to present in the Silvio O. Conte National Fish and Wildlife Refuge (NFWR) Comprehensive Conservation Plan and Environmental Impact Statement (CCP/EIS). Those alternatives will be based on our refuge purposes, our proposed refuge vision and management goals, and issues that were raised by other agencies, partners, or the public. Many issues were identified during the public scoping step of the planning process, including at the public meetings we hosted during December 2007 through January 2008. We learned a lot of valuable information at those meetings that will be useful in developing alternatives.
Additional Information
Public Meetings Follow-up
During some of our early meetings, we received requests for additional information on how the Service makes decisions about public uses, and specifically what decisions have been made about snowmobiling on refuges in the area. Click here for access to Service policy on “appropriateness” and “compatibility” and for snowmobiling decisions at Missisquoi NWR, and at the Pondicherry and Nulhegan Divisions of Silvio O Conte NFWR.
