Comprehensive Conservation Planning
Latest News in Developing the CCP
We are pleased to announce a final decision has been made on the comprehensive conservation plan (CCP) for this refuge. On January 9, 2009 our Regional Director selected Alternative B from the Final CCP/EIS for implementation. This decision, which is documented in the Record of Decision (ROD), represents over 6 years of work among federal and state agencies, local and regional officials and communities, conservation organizations and user groups. Click here to view our latest newsletter announcing the availability of the ROD.
We invite you to attend an informational meeting on April 8, 2009 at the Errol Town Hall from 5:30 to 7:00 pm. This will be the first in our series of quarterly informational meetings, which we will continue as long as there is interest. These meetings provide an opportunity to discuss refuge topics of interest. Please check with refuge headquarters for future meeting dates and times.
How to Access the Documents
We are still the process of preparing the stand-alone CCP document based on Alternative B in the Final CCP/EIS. That document will not be available until late April 2009. We will post it on this site as soon as it is ready. The details on Alternative B, however, can still be found in the Final CCP/EIS and its appendixes and summary. These documents are presented in three volumes: 1) a summary; 2) the Final CCP/EIS; and, 3) Appendixes. All three volumes are available below as individual chapters and appendixes.
These files are at a lower resolution than the print or cd-rom versions of the document in order to reduce the file sizes and facilitate downloading. As a result, the quality of the many maps and photos may not be as clear as you would like. As another option, we have also provided below high resolution files of individual maps and figures for you to view and print as needed.

We are also making available the summary report of public comments received on the draft CCP/EIS compiled by the U.S. Forest Service Recreation Solutions Team. To view or download that report click here. (PDF 1.4MB)
