Prepare the Draft CCP and NEPA (EIS or EA) Document
- Compatibility Determinations - Written determinations signifying that a proposed or existing use of a national wildlife refuge is a compatible use or is not a compatible use with the mission of the National Wildlife Refuge System.
- Pre-acquisition Compatibility Determinations - If our proposed action includes expanding the planning unit by acquiring new lands, the draft CCP and NEPA documents also must identify any existing wildlife-dependent recreational public uses deemed compatible that we will allow to continue after acquisition.
- Internal Review - The draft CCP and NEPA document are submitted for internal review within the Region following established procedures. Reviewers will include refuge program managers, ecosystem managers, refuge staff and other appropriate Service programs and divisions, as well as other agency partners. Then the draft CCP and NEPA document will be printed and prepared for public review.
- Public Notice, Review, and Comment - Prepare A Notice of availability of the draft CCP and NEPA document is prepared and published in the Federal Register. The affected public will be notified of the availability of these documents through other appropriate means. A minimum of 30 days will be provided for public review of a draft CCP with an EA and 45 days for a draft CCP with an integrated EIS.
