The Patuxent Research Refuge is hosting a spring wild turkey hunting season in April and May of 2013. “In 2012, we had several successful hunts. We look forward to 2013 being another good season,” says Refuge Manager Brad Knudsen about the improved hunting opportunities. Dates for Spring 2013 wild turkey hunts (subject to change): Prospective hunters must have a Maryland hunting license, MNHA hunting permit, and a hunter safety card to be eligible. Hunters with disabilities are required to provide written verification of disability at the time of entry into the lottery.Additionally, all selected hunters must pattern their weapon and attend a NWTF clinic prior to the day of the hunt, unless they have proof of previous attendance at a clinic. Hunters may contact the refuge to pre-arrange the assistance of NWTF volunteers to call in turkeys.
