On October 16th and 17th, 2009, a panel of five distinguished judges (plus an alternate)
judged the 224 entries in front of an auditorium full of visitors and hopeful artists.
First place went to Robert Bealle, a local artist from Waldorf, Maryland, who has participated in the federal competition many times.
His serene depiction of an American wigeon will be made into the 2010-2011 Federal Duck Stamp,
and will go on sale in late June 2010.
