Patuxent Research Refuge hosted Kids Fishing Day on Saturday, June 14th, 2008 at the National Wildlife Visitor Center. This annual event kicks off the fishing season at Cash Lake. Cash Lake is open to fishing from June 15th to October 12th in 2008.
The Refuge had over 300 happy young anglers along with their families and friends. The kids were greeted by staff and volunteers and lead through three different learning stations including: fishing ethics, fish handling and casting followed by fishing at Lake Redington or Cash Lake. Many kids caught their first fish here at Patuxent!
Once again, the Refuge provided all fishing equipment and bait. Many staff and volunteers joined the young anglers to spend the day identifying and handling fish and even baiting hooks! More information about Fishing at Patuxent Research Refuge.
