Purpose: These essential volunteers enhance public awareness of the Refuge and the NWRS, while providing information necessary for a quality experience.

Duties: Greets visitors and orients them to the NWVC buildings, grounds and programs, and other Refuge public facilities. Answers questions, encourages appropriate behavior, and responds to emergency situations.

Location of Assignment: National Wildlife Visitor Center Information Desk

Qualifications: Extraordinary people skills and enjoy dealing with the public. Ability to take initiative in problem solving.

Minimum Age Requirement:16 (however, 12 year olds are permitted if working with a trained parent or guardian each time they volunteer).

Training Provided/Required: Refuge Orientation (6 hours), Customer Service on-the-job training (8 hours).

Time Commitment: At least one 4-hour shift per month.
