Purpose: These volunteers assist the Friends of Patuxent
raise revenues that go to support research and education projects
on the Refuge.
Duties: Volunteers assist the Friends of Patuxent in the Bookstore.
Functions include greeting and assisting customers, stocking shelves,
taking inventory, pricing merchandise, operating the cash register,
maintaining displays and bookstore appearance and evaluating the appeal
of current and prospective new merchandise.
Location of Assignment: National Wildlife Visitor Center
Bookstore - Wildlife Images.
Qualifications: Dependability, honesty, money handling ability,
and good people skills required.
Minimum Age Requirement: 18.
Training Provided/Required: Refuge Orientation (6
hours), Customer Service on-the-job training (8 hours), and individualized
in-store training (approx. 8 hours) are required.
Time Commitment: Store hours are 11:00 - 5:00 pm. Regular
attendance at scheduled shift is critical. Two 4-hour shifts per month
are required.
