The Ohio River, its islands and floodplain, support a great range of wildlife. From obscure insects to common mammals, habitat determines where each species lives. Habitat management will ultimately benefit wildlife requiring mature bottomland hardwood forest more than species adapted to earlier stages of forest succession.
